Tejanos and Jews have faced the same historical fate. If we don’t tell our history, it gets literally written out of existence.
Texas’ white-written and enforced history denies all the facts, and replaces their actual history of being racial supremacists with being the brave resistant white victims of brown supremacy. Every school in Texas tells this lie – it’s mandatory – and, if you don’t tell it, you’re fired as a teacher in the State of Texas.
It is this same action of re-writing history that most disturbs me about Muslim and Christian supporters of the “free palestine” movement – for it is based *literally* on the same twisted-history lie! The colonizers of Palestine are Muslims and Christians, the indigenous has always been Jews and Arabs of the Levant. But, the story is turned around to say the historical victims are the oppressors themselves, and everyone else is innocent.
Seriously, let’s honestly compare Christian and Islamic histories, here:
White Christians say that Mexicans oppressed white colonizers in Texas, seeking to control them and take their colonized land from them – a boldfaced lie! Muslims and their USA followers say that Jews oppressed Muslim colonizers in (what is now called) Palestine, seeking to control them and take their colonized land from them – a boldfaced lie! Nevermind, that both Mexicans/Tejanos and Jews *are* the indigenous of their respective lands.
In the colonizer mindset: The Colonizer takes and revolts, and claims victim status afterwards! The white Texan slaveowners and merchant mercenaries sought to possess Texas for slave-economy gains. The Muslim colonizers sought to possess Palestine and, especially Hebron and Jerusalem, for the Islamic conquest of all the Middle East.
So, the history of Tejanos and their continuous presence in the land of Texas gets literally written out of the history books in Texas. Tejanos (Texas Latinos) are not “Americans,” they’re hated Mexicans.
Just like, the history of Jews and our continuous presence in Judea-Israel (aka, since Roman occupation time, Palestine) gets literally written out of the history books. Jews are not “Palestinians,” they’re hated Nazi Zionists.
Instead, the loud and repetitive indoctrinating history is this: It is the colonizing white Christians who are the victims – who are the real “Americans.” And it is the conquesting Muslims Arabs who are the victims – who are the real Palestinians. So says the majority everytime, the colonizing/conquesting Christians and Muslims in this world!
History is written by the oppressors, claiming to be innocent victims of their circumstances. For whites, the circumstances of racial supremacist privilege, off the genocide of non-whites. For Muslims, the circumstances of religious supremacist privilege, off the genocide of non-Muslims. And the victims, everytime, are the indigenous people and terrorized communities of the land – regardless of their ethnicity!
The only difference between these two historical examples that I have presented in this post, is this: Since 1948, Jews get to write the history of Palestine correctly within Israel, even though the rest of the world continues to embrace and believe the historic twisted-history. Whereas, Tejanos will get to do this history corrective in Texas, only when they become the majority ethnicity of the State – and, hopefully, very soon.

I’m proud of Time on this article! They broached the real reason white settlers wanted Texas to be its own nation, seperate from Mexico: The ownership of Slaves. Texas was the last State to let its enslaved black population know that the Civil War had been won by the North, and that all chattel slaves had been Constitutionallly freed a full two years before. But, of course,… history taught shares a supremacist satisfying myth.
A thought experiment: If Mexico were to colonize and take over Texas – driving out all the whites and blacks, and leaving only the Tejanos – this would be a direct equivalence to the situation in Palestine. The Mexicans (Arabs) and the Tejanos (Jews) are indistinguishable between each other, except for spoken language and type of religion.

Ilhan Omar again is praised as somehow telling the “truth” on Israel, United States, Hamas, and Taliban – by equating them, and leaving out the Palestinian Authority (Yasser Arafat’s Palestinian Liberation Organization, the first terrorist org in the region). But, when Israel forced all Jews to remove themselves from Gaza in 2005 (making Gaza Jew-free for the first time in 3,500 years), it was the *PA/PLO* that *directly created Hamas* in Gaza – an Islamic Terrorist group bent on Islamic genocide of Jews!
The present leader of Hamas is the disputed president of the PA. But, convenient it is for Ilhan Omar to equate Israel with the United States and Hamas and Taliban – implying that Palestinians are innocent victims and bystanders. Who created Hamas in Gaza? West Bank Palestinians did this – within two years of an Israeli full withdrawl of all Jews, military and civilian!
The Israel-Palestinian conflict is literally and factually a brown-vs-brown conflict – the majority of Jews in Israel are Arab Jews. And, Jews and Palestinian Arabs (the Palestinians that didn’t immigrate to Palestine during the British Mandate) are near indistiguishable.
