The existence of the Mizrahi Black Panthers is not a fallacy. The idea that they were anti-Zionists, thus “Palestinian” supportive is the JVP deception!
Reuven Aberjil himself stated in a meeting with Golda Meir that “We are healthy and can work, so all we want is the opportunity to advance ourselves… But there’s the problem of the Sephardim or Mizrahim who form 65% of the country’s population. The situation of that group is poor, and many live under the poverty line, earning less than 400 liras a month. We are talking about families with 10 or more children. What they earn isn’t enough to live off.” This meeting was about Mizrahim full inclusion in the Zionist (Jewish “self-determination”) dream/goal.
It is always very wrong to look at the world through the limited myopic view of United States racial dynamics! Modern Zionism was started by we MENA Jews fleeing Arab persecution by returning to Israel in the 1880’s. But, our history of Zionism is washed away by groups like JVP and B’Tselem! Worse, is also reversed when convenient.
Was their integration difficulties between MENA Jews and European Jews during the early years of Israeli Independence? Absolutely, yes! Along with a *constant* threat by Arab nations seeking to end our MENA created Indigenous Jewish nation. Arab nation aggressions, aided and abetted by the USSR’s inciting and funding of Arab terrorism. The USSR directly created the anti-Indigenous liberation terror groups we know as the PLO and BLO in 1964.
As is always, among poor areas, many who were in the Mizrahi Black Panthers movement had crimminal records and they would do protests without permits. So, many arrests did happen, and it is regrettable. But the MENA refugee communities have successfully integrated into the full Jewish Israeli community, and most are devout Zionists like the first families that returned to Judea-Samaria by land and by sea in the 1880’s – before European Jews picked up this idea!
JVP dishonors the Mizrahi-Sephardi experience and history by connecting it to the fictious “Palestinian people” cause. These Arabs that are land-squatting to end Jewish Indigenous sovereignty upon Jewish ancestral land do *not* want to be citizens of Israel, do *not* want to be a neighbor nation beside a Jewish Indigenous nation, and Israel cannot just kick them out back to their countries of origins – because 22 Arab conquested nations are just waiting for this to happen!
