Stop! Wait! I have a problem with this. Citizens of the United States of America, please here me out…
This meme assumes that there should only be two choices, Republican or Democrat, and that you must vote for one of these parties. This is the very reason for the political mess our government is in! Governing is not about political party stances, nor about one is right and the other is wrong.
Well then, you may ask, if it’s not about this, then how should we be electing our representatives? Well, let’s ask the most important question: Do we want to live in a functional democracy, that meets the needs of our families?
If so, then we need to be choosing our candidates – minus the party system – based on “qualifications and fitness” for office, and her/his willingness to faithfully serve and represent “the people’s” agendas. Town halls, constituents feedback, and local polling should be her/his platform of legislative action!
Citizens of the United States, it is time to ask ourselves: Do we really want a government that actually works, or not?!
#Resist and #maga by mandating #TermLimits on congressional incumbents and by returning to a democracy of the people, for the people, and by the people!
Maybe it’s time for a people’s party – a non-partisan grassroots organization of citizens that are:
1 – promoting elected representative accountability to the people – their constituents,
2 – every citizen having the guaranteed unfettered right to vote,
3 – a national effort to emphasize voting by community legislative agenda (no party stances on ideology allowed in the halls of government!),
4 – and offering a state by state informational on what the citizen’s majority desires for elected representatives in each district are in each congressional year (achieved by regular polling).
This would be a start, at least, in the right direction for governing our states and our nation! … In the meantime, as we work to achieve this – a fair and representative government that actually speaks for the People – we have to focus on voting out all incumbents, voting in all new faces to represent us in government, and support grassroots efforts such as Indivisible and the CoffeeParty.
