#Alllivesmatter in the United States when America begins to fully embrace its history and its constitution, and when #WhitePrivilege ceases to have meaning in U.S. society.

  1. Today is the full moon – the monthly Shabbat, as it was observed in ancient pre-theocratic temple times. It is also the start of the weekly weekend – the weekly Shabbat, as it is observed in our post-theocratic democratic times.

With this said, … one more thought. Being “willing” is not the same as actually doing. Do it, illegitimately elected, say it under “oath”. Willingness without doing is B.S.

  2. Fascinating! The citizen youth of the United States are stepping up to the plate.

“The Trump administration is ramping up efforts to quash a climate change lawsuit brought by 21 young people. Trump’s legal team on Friday took an unusual step that shows just how determined the Justice Department is to keep Juliana v. United States from going to trial.”

Trump administration takes a ‘drastic’ step to stop youth climate lawsuit

The youth lawsuit uses a novel legal approach that’s also being tested in India, the Netherlands, and other countries around the world. Juliana v. United States relies on a version of the public trust doctrine, which holds that the government is responsible for preserving certain natural resources for public use. In this instance, the resource is the country’s “life-sustaining climate system,” including the “atmosphere, waters, oceans, and biosphere.”
“The U.S. government is running from some of its youngest constituents, and all we’re asking for is a plan to preserve our future,” Victoria Barrett, an 18-year-old plaintiff from White Plains, New York, said in a statement provided by Our Children’s Trust, the organization behind the lawsuit.

  3. Three things we’ve gotten out of the #JeffSessions Senate Intelligence testimony:
    1) His defense is innocence by direct ignorance.
    2) It’s becoming obviously clear, now, that personal attorneys have gotten on the same page, that all within the #Trump administration who are being questioned about the Russia investigation are compelled to state the following – “I cannot talk about privileged conversations with or about Trump, not because he has asserted ‘executive privilege’, but because he *might* want to exert executive privilege in the future, and we are obligated to give him this right even before he does so (especially, with us being questioned now!).”
    3) Jeff Sessions has the #WhiteFragility complex – he takes attention being made about the integrity of the institution as being a personal attack upon his own integrity … thus, his reaction is emotional and personal (thin-skinned like that Trump guy).

Now that it is personal, will the Congress finally do something about gun proliferation in the United States? (Won’t hold my breath.) Like so many, this shooting brought to you courtesy of that big-money liberal org known as the #NRA.

  5. This year’s summer solstice arrives in the Northeast on Wednesday, June 21, 2017. In terms of the length of daylight, it’s the longest day — and the shortest night. It is celebrated all around the world with bonfires, feasts, drinking, dancing and — in some places — getting naked. Here are some facts about the solstice, how it got its name and some of the rituals associated with this annual astronomical event.

On the day of the summer solstice, the North Pole is at its maximum tilt toward the sun, and the sun reaches its highest point in the sky all year, causing more light to reach the northern hemisphere.
For people in the southern hemisphere, June 21 will be their winter solstice, so it will be the shortest day and longest night of the year, the exact opposite of what’s occurring in the northern hemisphere. The summer solstice in the southern hemisphere will occur on Dec. 21.
The Daily Mirror of London says the word “solstice” originated from two Latin words, “sol” (sun) and “sistere” (which means to stand still), “because the seasonal movement of the sun’s path – as seen from Earth – momentarily comes to a stop before reversing direction.”

  6. This year’s World Humanist Day is on June 21 2017
World Humanist Day is celebrated annually on June 21 as a way to spread information – and combat misinformation – about the positive aspects of humanism as a philosophical life stance and means to affect change in the world.
The origins date back to the 1980s, when several local state chapters of the American Humanist Association (AHA) began celebrating World Humanist Day. But different chapters had different ideas as to when that day should be. Some chapters, for example, preferred the anniversary of the founding of the International Humanist and Ethical Union (IHEU), while other chapters celebrated a Humanist Day on different dates of significance.

World Humanist Day is an opportunity for humanists and humanist organizations to publicize the positive values of Humanism and to share the global concerns of the Humanist movement, and we’ve been celebrating the day since the 1980s.

Humanists can use this significant date as a time to educate the public in their local area about this often misunderstood worldview, and to gather and celebrate as a community which continues to contribute to the progress and education of the world.
The American Humanist Association, the International Humanist and Ethical Union, the Council for Secular Humanism, the Campus Freethought Alliance and the Secular Student Alliance currently celebrate World Humanist Day.
